With the economy in slow recovery, a new wave of attacks on collective bargaining, and a presidential election on the horizon, workingwomen’s voices are now more important than ever.
The new National Survey of Working Women was developed under the guidance of the AFL-CIO Executive Council Committee on Women Workers, key partners and affiliates, and experts throughout the progressive movement. Kira Johnson was the recipient of the 2015 Member of the Year award. Kira is an active member and shop steward at UFCW Local 99 in Arizona. She has become a leader not only in her union but in the community as well. She is a fierce advocate for all members and young workers.
