San Diego UFCW Member Pharmacist Re-Elected President of California State Board of Pharmacy

Sacramento, CA – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Western States Council applauded the California State Board of Pharmacy’s re-election of Seung Oh as President. The Board of Pharmacy is tasked with protecting and promoting the health and safety of Californians by pursuing the highest quality of pharmacist’s care and the appropriate use of pharmaceuticals through education, communication, licensing, legislation, regulation, and enforcement.

“Being re-elected as the President of the California Board of Pharmacy is a tremendous honor and an opportunity to ensure California’s pharmacists have safe workplaces so pharmacists can prioritize taking care of their patients’ health,” said Seung Oh, a pharmacist in San Diego, member of UFCW Local 135 and President of the California Board of Pharmacy. “As a practicing pharmacist, I know firsthand just how important pharmacists are to Californians’ health. Pharmacists are often patients’ only form of healthcare, and I’ve made it a priority to fight for better access to quality healthcare for all Californians. I’m honored to have been re-elected and will continue to strengthen the protection of the public and improve pharmacists’ role in patient care during my new term.”

“Throughout the many years I’ve known Seung, he has been a tireless advocate for pharmacists, patients and all Californians, both in his role as a pharmacist and on the Board of Pharmacy as President,” said Amber Baur, executive director, UFCW Western States Council. “I know Seung’s passion for and knowledge about how pharmacists can contribute to community health will ensure patients are kept safe and are provided the highest quality care possible.”

Oh was appointed to a registered pharmacist seat on the Board of Pharmacy in 2020.
