Sacramento, CA – The United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Western States Council, a union representing more than 180,000 grocery, pharmacy, cannabis, and retail workers across California, today announced its endorsement of Xavier Becerra for Governor.
“Xavier Becerra grew up in a union household and has put California’s workers first as a State Assemblymember, Congressmember, Attorney General and as United States Secretary of the Health and Human Services,” said Mark Ramos, president, UFCW Western States Council and UFCW Local 1428. “UFCW workers are ready to put their boots on the ground to elect Xavier Becerra for California Governor because he knows what’s best for working people and he’s shown that he’s willing to fight for them. Under Becerra’s leadership, we know California will take on the cost of living in our state, create more pathways to the middle class and make progress toward creating a better California for workers.”
As California’s former Attorney General and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Becerra has spent his career fighting for workers, expanding healthcare access, and holding corporations accountable. He has been a consistent advocate for labor rights, minimum wage increases, and protections for workers across industries.
